Good day, First time here, and I need help desperately. I have a dual drive dual OS Laptop used extensively. The OS's are XP PRO ( Where the Problem is), and Vista. On Saturday evening during the daylight savings change over time, I was uninstalling a program called Malaware Bytes because it has never found anything, and was also doing a forced uninstall of Kaspersky Security Suite via their uninstall program of KavRemover. Unfortunately during that process, the system went into hibernate mode, and I had to use the power off button as hibernate would not come out of hibernation. When I re started the system and selected my boot OS into XP Pro, I could get to the Login Screen that has only my Icon for normal start up, I could get to the login screen under Safe Mode that has both my Icon and the Administrator Icon, I could get to the Login Screen under Last Known Good Configuration, but in ALL cases, the mouse pointer icon is frozen in place and will not move. Yes, I have tried Tabbing to the appropriate Login box, but even that does not move the pointer, so I can't even begin to login to that OS. I need my XP Pro back because that is where I have several software licenses and years of data, research and programs. I am writing this via my Vista OS Drive located in the same Laptop. I can view all the files on the XP Pro Hard Drive, and have been backing some of them up as possible. I have that drive partitioned into 4 different all with their appropriate programs, licenses, and data. I need a solution as to how to either bipass the login screen without actually being in XP Pro. A solution as to how to create and Emergency Boot Disk from the original XP Pro Disk. A solution as to how to get simply into the Command Prompt so as to modify or remove any necessary files that would bi-pass the Login Screen for XP. Have placed that disk into the CD Drive, but don't want to risk destroying any of the data or programs on that drive. Been working on this now for 2_1/2 days. I have reviewed many of the previous indicated solutions posted on this site, and none seem appropriate. This was a custom built system several years ago, and the default OS was supposed to be Vista, with upgrade privileges to Windows 7, but I needed to maintain XP Pro because of the programs I run and have licenses to. And they only allowed me to download 1/4 of the Windows 7 OS before I couldn't retrieve any more. I deplore Vista, so spend 90% of time in XP anyway. Thank you kindly for any and all solutions as to how to be able to get back into XP Pro without having to do a clean install.
