I have an HP computer running XP pro. Awhile back the computer tried installing an update but the computer didn't like it and would continue to reboot. I wound up having to recover the computer, it was running and all was well. But when I went to get the printer installed it would work, until the next morning when the guy came in the printer stopped working. So I went to his computer and moved the usb plug from port to port but that did not fix. The only way it worked was by rebooting the computer. Its weird because the printer goes into an offline mode and stops working. I can unplug and re plug it in and it will find it, also can re install the printer but its like the link doesn't work anymore because I still have to reboot no matter what. I have replaced the cable, tried uninstalling and re installing the driver several times, and updating the driver.
The printer is a Brother HL-5250DN
The computer is HP Compaq dx2400 microtower.
