Scenario:
I have one windows XP computer downstairs that is hooked up via ethernet with the modem/router, and I have one windows 7 computer upstairs connected to the internet via adapter. The adapter is from buffalo, the model is very common: WLI-UC-GN
Problem: I switched the computers just for convenience, so the winXP went upstairs. I tried to put the adapter onto it, and the driver failed to automatically install onto the computer. This unables me to access the internet, even though the internet works for everyone else because my adapter failed to work. I do not think it is the adapter; what I think it is, is that windows XP is too outdated to recognize the fairly new adapter (2 years old, not really new, lol.) I tried installing the driver on their website onto a flashdrive, then transferred it onto the windows XP, but it still does not work. When I first plugged in the adapter, windows xp actually did get some recognition, however when I went thru the process of installing the driver, it crashed, and when i un-plug and re-plug, the automatic installer does not pop up anymore :(
This is very inconvenient. Please help, this windows XP computer is old, but has very nice specs because it is custom made!
P.S. the internet was perfectly fine before the transfer of computers
