Hello - I have done a complete wipe of my hard drive in order to prepare my Compaq desktop for donation. I then proceeded to use the system recovery discs included with my computer to load my Windows XP operating system back on to the hard drive.
Everything worked fine until the end, when you press "restart" and should go right to the set up screen in Windows. Instead, I get the black screen with this message "Disc Boot Failure - Insert System Recovery CD & press Enter". I have to put Disc one in before I can get past this screen. I then get the option of doing a full system recovery, a standard system recovery, or quit. When I press Quit, I am then taken to my main screen. This is the only way I can access the computer. I do not want to donate this with this quirky step needed to get into the system. I should also mention that the first time I went into the system using this weird way to get there, everything had been restored, so the restoration worked, I just don't know how to get in properly.
Any thoughts? And pardon my lingo - I am not a tech person.
