After system restore user issues

I had the blue screen a couple of times and was unable to boot so did a system restore through DOS to the most recent restore point. When I got the machine to re-boot, all my settings, documents, etc... were gone. My display is different and I can't get it back to the old resolution (I have it at the highest resolution but it is distorted). My touchpad was not working (downloaded a new driver to fix this issue). Even the control panel has different

It turns out, it created a new profile under the Documents and Settings with my old user name.computer name. My old user name folder is still there but I don't know how to get it to be the default. When I turn on my computer, it doesn't show any other users. Can someone help me get my old profile back and running?

I am running Windows XP
Dell Inspiron 6000 1.86GHz with 2 GB RAM
