Problem gaining permission on winXP HD from another windows

This is a very urgent problem!

I have an old PC with WinXP and the motherboard died. Problem is however that on that PC is a business program with a extra-stupid licence and the company that makes/owns/supports that program has extra- stupid licencing protocols.

So I rigged up the HD from the old PC to a new PC with Win7. All fine but I know I cant start up the program that way, so I downloaded with permission the program (new version) and re-installed it in the same directory. According to the tech-support guy from the company, that should fix everything.

It didn't.

What I did next is enter the security settings of the whole folder and change permissions --> add new --> added my acc as admin with full control --> almost all files changed permission.... but about 6 files or so I get ' Access denied, you dont have permission" or something similar. No matter what I did, this happened. I tried with inheritance, but it didnt work. No matter what the "special permissions" in the edit permissions/gain control prompt remains gray and I cant use these files.

It is extremely important I solve this asap, so please help!

I apologise if this is the wrong cathegory for this thread, if so please tell me so I can move it!
