My old HP laptop has seen better years and I used it up until it crashed nearly 5 times a day on a day basis for 3 days. I have a new laptop now and I want to dispose of my old one.
I looked up software to wipe it, like DBAN, but the program requires a CD, the CD drive on the old computer has broken for years.
Would a hard reset of the computer to factory settings be the same as wiping it clean like DBAN?
It can no long connect to the internet or wireless either, thanks to the last crash and I have no desire to figure out why.
What other options do I have to destroy the information on my old laptop that was a HP, could I download any other program using a thumb drive and use it for my older computer? My father also as an ancient TOSHIBA with Win Vista that I want to destroy as well, it no longer starts up properly and stays on for perhaps 10 seconds before crashing, so anything that destroy both would be fantastic
I just want to dump them at a recycling center and not care or worry about them anymore.
Thank you so much for the help
