Win XP Pro running on a 10 year old Dell Dimension.
Ran fine until I plugged in my SD card reader from my camera. SD card produced 3 instances of "full" drives: G;H; & I. Even though there were very few pics on the card (I could scroll through on the camera).
I decided to delete the "extra" drives in device manager. (But left my HDD alone)
Since then, XP boots to a black screen, and IF I can get it to boot to safe mode; it takes HOURS.
If I ever get into safe mode (still waiting) someone suggested uninstalling the USB host controllers.
These will be re-created next time XP starts (yes?)
I will re-format the SD card before I try it again. It must have been plugged into too many different systems, and been assigned a new drive letter each time.
Thx
