Hi
I purchased an old HP 9100 C Digital Sender Scanner and it is not compatible with Windows 7 and HP does not offer Drivers. It was designed for industrial use and needs a network. No USB ports. I bought Windows 7 Professional because it support XP and hoped that I would be able to install the scanner in compatibility mode. When I put the install CD in the drive is made a humming noise but would not show up on the desk top. When I tried to get into compatibility mode it asked me what program I wanted to run? I am not sure if this means I cannot install older programs compatible with XP but can only use software compatible with XP. I have limited computer knowledge so really do not understand all the issues.
If I am unable to use Windows 7 Pro to run the scanner I think I will need to buy a laptop or desktop that has the XP operating system. Please advise either on how to make the scanner work on Win Pro or please suggest some computers I can purchase. I would prefer a laptop or a desktop that has a monitor included.
I will be using it for scanning documents and then transferring some to CDs and USB drives so that the computer does not get overloaded. If a laptop can handle this it would be preferrable as it is smaller and more compact and has the monitor built in. My budget is limited so I hope you can help me to choose the best option.
Thanks
