Hi Guys, I have experienced a problem on my Sony Vaio VGC-V3S (2001) running XP. The computer suddenly would not boot up and showed the following error message
*** STOP: 0x000000BE (0xF694260,0x10c8B121,0xF7730BC4,0x0000000B)
*** nv4_mini.sys - Address F694263D base at F689C000, DateStamp 4074b958

The only way I have been able to boot is by using ISO images of specialist boot CD's such as Bitdeffender, Hirons, AVG system recovery etc.
Looking on the various forums it suggested all I needed to do was boot using a recovery package look for the file nv4_mini.sys and rename it nv4_mini.sys.old this would stop the looping of the boot process and allow the PC to boot normally then down load and reinstall the file nv4_mini.sys
OK so I did this rename (booting using CD) finding the file in C: drivers along with all other files in the C: being visible. Then I rebooted but the PC would still not boot and kept looping. I rebooted using a recovery CD only now the C: drive shows no files what so ever but when checking the partition structure it shows no free space all 30gig full. D: drive is still fine and using Aviria I was able to copy all of my 450gig of data to a remote hard drive so all this is safe. Problem is my D: only had trivia, photos, music etc my C: drive has some important files that I really need, accounts, personal correspondence etc.
Can any body help I need to find out if I can recover the data files from my C: drive
I am writing this from my lap top so have not added the sysinfo from this PC
Thanks Noel
