I've been using an hp dc5100 sff for several years. It came with XP pro and works great so I bought a second one as a backup. The only difference was that the second one did not have an OS. I installed my personal legal copy of XP pro and I now am unable to connect to the interent. I see there is no ethernet controller according to the device manager. Tried installng drivers from the HP site that I download on my GOOD computer and put them on a CD.............no help. What next...Help??

Guys,

My computer is slow so I ran a free system scan from SpeedyPC PRO and there were 1000 problems found – are they for real?

I have done all I know to do:

RAN: %temp% - c:\windows\temp - msconfig and found extra programs running at START UP.
Temp File cleaner by Old Timer – DISK CLEANER by MS to get rid of compress files.

I shut down the PC for 10 minutes and nothing after rebooting.

Do I just need a new PC?

Thanks.

Problem:
Many times on starting the PC or on booting, the computer displays a screen:
Start Safe Mode
Start Normally
Start Last working configuration.

About 6 times, I have gone through the rigmarole of reinstalling the whole system, but after sometime the above happens all over again.

I usually use the Safe Mode, then shutdown, and attempt restart. Seems some problem with pagefile.

I have AVG Free 2012 and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.65.1.1000 that runs in manual mode. Though IE6 came preloaded, I prefer to use FireFox in autoupdate mode, currently version 16.0.1. Java update is enabled, currently, Java 7 Update 9. However, Windows Update is disabled. I use Piriformis CCleaner and Defragler regularly. Once PC is running I have no problems whatsoever.

This is an assembled PC used for medical transcription. This x86 machine running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.

Would the Windows XP Repair Mode be of any help? Please help. If there is anything else u need, I would be glad to provide.

I tried running the software cd on my computer and still no communication.

Creating XP Pro Bootable ISO disc

Hey all! Thanks for any help here, I am working on finishing my associates degree in computer support and this damn XP ISO disc is makin me wanna make this pc a boat anchor, but I'm trying to stay patient. Ok, so I have access to my DreamSpark.com account and have downloaded the XP Pro SP2 and have burnt it to disc many times using a variety of burners, from nLite to Active ISO burner and even the built-in ISO software that was pre-loaded on my working machine. I can verify that the discs have burnt correctly because whenever I load them into working machines the setup.exe file wants to begin the process. The machine I'm trying to send the ISO image to is stuck in an infinite restart loop. I've verified through BIOS that both the CD drive and HD are being recognized so I know they exist. I was thinking that there was something special that I had to do to create an XP ISO file, but that information has already been erased from my brain. Thanks for any help!

Windows XP Hangs at MUP.SYS with one Exception

My Windows XP Desktop was operating a little slower then usual, so I rebooted it with the Shutdown:Restart windows command. It will now only boot up to mup.sys and hangs.

I was troubleshooting and thought I would try to eliminate the mouse and keyboard as a possible cause.

I unplugged USB mouse and keyboard (This PC only has USB connections for mouse and keyboard) and rebooted the PC. The PC booted up correctly. So I got my mini laptop and tried a remote connection. The PC works perfectly as a host for a Remote Desktop as long as the PC and Mouse are unplugged.

I have tested the keyboard and mouse on another PC and they both work fine.

Any ideas of what might be corrupted to cause this problem.

Port Fowarding

Hi I'm making a minecraft server and I need to port forward and I get something like this on the help:

Using the Port Forwarding page, you can provide local services (for example web hosting) for people on the Internet or play Internet games. To configure a service, game or other application select the external connection (for example the Internet connection), select the computer hosting the service and add the corresponding firewall rule. If you want to add a custom application, select the User category, click New and fill in the port, protocols and description for your application. You can also add/edit/delete rules without using the pre-defined Firewall Policy Database (games, services, etc.). Click on "Custom Rules" to access this type of interface. In the presence of the firewall, anonymous Internet traffic is blocked.

I don't understand computer language so can you please reply simply.

Thanks

I really dont know what the problem is. I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 with Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I re-installed the Windows about 3 weeks back and at first everything seemed to work well. However over the last week I have practically been unable to use the laptop because it is so slow. It is slow to respond. Sometimes the browsers crash. Even applications like Microsoft word take forever to respond.
Quite honestly I am at my wits end! and I would really appreciate help with this...Thanks!

I'm running Windows 7 OS x 64 bit on an Dell XPS. Whenever I switch from the administrator user to a non-administrator user, Explorer posts an error message that states: "RoxWatchTray13.exe. Oxc0000022. Application unable to start correctly. Click OK to close application." Clicking OK removes the error message and allows the non-administrator user to proceed. However, I'd like to get rid of that annoying message. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
